About us

Dr. Cole founded the Cambridge Psychology Centre in 2005 to expand psychological services in Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, and the surrounding Waterloo and Wellington regions.  The team includes five full-time and one part-time clinician.

 

Dr. John Cole, Ph.D., C.Psych., Director

Dr. John Cole received his honours B.A. in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario in 1982.  He completed his Masters Degree (1986) and his Ph.D. (1992) in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from York University.  He became a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in 1993.
 
As a graduate student he was trained at The Clarke Institute of Psychiatry (now called the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health) in Toronto, University Hospital in London, ON, The Downsview Rehabilitation Centre in Toronto, The Wellesley Hospital in Toronto, and The London Psychiatric Hospital.
 
Dr. Cole has been working fulltime in the Cambridge area since 1988.  He was at the Community Mental Health Clinic of Cambridge Memorial Hospital for over 7 years performing psychological assessments, and offering individual, couples and group psychotherapy.  Then, he began his private practice in 1993 and this became fulltime in 1996. Dr. Cole has worked with a broad range of clients over the years, including anxiety and mood problems, chronic pain, trauma survivors (whether from violence, abuse, or accidents), acquired brain injuries (ABI), and chronic disabilities. 

In his spare time, Dr. Cole enjoys cycling, canoeing, and skiing; reading and music; and spending time with his family.

 

Dr. Steven Jett, Ph.D., C.Psych., Psychologist

Dr. Steven Jett is a Registered Psychologist who earned his doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Indiana University. He offers assessment and therapy services to adults and couples. His professional interests include the assessment and treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, anger, and adjustment issues. He has experience treating war veterans, people with disabilities, and people injured at work or in car accidents. His work with couples includes issues related to infidelity, communication, parenting, and intimacy. He also provides psycho-vocational assessments and insurer examinations with people injured in motor vehicle accidents. In addition, Dr. Jett serves as a board member on the Brain Injury Association of Waterloo-Wellington. He also leads a psycho-educational group for care givers of loved ones with acquired brain injuries (ABI). 

Dr. Jett’s therapeutic style is relaxed, understanding, and caring. He believes that people often need to feel understood before they can move forward in their lives. He also understands that change sometimes requires gentle confrontation and challenge. He sees his job as helping people to understand themselves, improve their coping skills, and build better relationships.

Outside the office, Dr. Jett enjoys being with his family and playing golf.

 

Dr. Allan Eng, Ph.D., C.Psych., Psychologist 

Dr. Allan Eng is a registered psychologist who completed his doctorate in Applied Developmental Psychology.  He employs a caring, supportive, collaborative approach with clients. He facilitates client self awareness and understanding,  insight into problems, analysis of social and environmental influences and joint problem solving. He likes helping individuals gain a wholistic, contextual perspective of themselves and develop adaptive strategies appropriate to the person and the situation. He also enjoys working with people to develop positive relationships with each other.  Through therapeutic interventions directed at relationships, he strives to help people become aware of each other's strengths, take account of each other's feelings and needs, develop communication skills, acquire problem solving approaches, and learn to support each other.

 

Dr. Eng works with adults, adolescents, and children either individually, as couples  or families. His adult individual work involves a broad range of problems including anxiety and depression, trauma (military veterans, workers, accidents, violence, and childhood), chronic pain, and brain injuries. Dr. Eng also provides psychological and psycho-educational assessments of children and adults. 


While having a very busy work life, he uses his remaining time to help the
community, be involved with the church, family and sports.

 

 Dr. Mehrdad Pojhan, Ph.D., C.Psych., Psychologist

Dr. Mehrdad Pojhan holds a PhD degree in Psychology and is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. He practices in clinical and counselling psychology with over 16 years of experience in clinical and academic settings. He provides individual cognitive-behavioural therapy for a range of psychological difficulties such as depression and stress, anxiety (phobias, trauma, and compulsions), and chronic pain and health anxiety. He also conducts psychological assessments/evaluations for the victims of motor vehicle accidents, work injuries and accidents, and a range of emotional and cognitive problems. In addition, Dr. pojhan is working toward registration in clinical neuropsychology and provides clinical neuropsychological services for patients with traumatic brain injuries and neuro-cognitive problems.

 

Dr. Pojhan speaks English and Farsi (Persian). His experience in working with clients from many cultural backgrounds has enabled him to have a true understanding of the cultural sensitivities and concerns.

 

Dr. Pojhan has had several academic publications in the field of physiological psychology, neuropsychology, anxiety and stress management, and research and statistics. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, paintings with different mediums, watching movies, and spending time with his family and friends.   

 

Ms. Linda Antoniazzi, MSW, RSW 

Ms. Linda Antoniazzi is a registered clinical Social Worker in the Province of Ontario since 1989. She completed her undergraduate studies in Social Work (BSW), Sociology (BA), Psychology, and Criminology, prior to graduating with a Master's of Social Work degree in 1998. She has also completed requirements for certificates of Critical Incident Stress Management, Clinical Hypnosis, and Trauma Assessment and Treatment. She worked as an Adult Protective Service Worker and then as an individual and marital therapist with the Chatham Kent Community and Family Services, before being employed for 17 years with both the Halton and Hamilton Children's Aid Societies in various front line worker and management positions. Ms. Antoniazzi has been deemed an expert witness in both the Halton and Hamilton family courts on child protection matters. She also taught various courses, both on a part-time and full-time basis, in the Social Service Worker and Police Foundation program at Sheridan College from 1989 to 1992. Ms. Antoniazzi worked in a Hamilton psychology clinic from December 2004 to September 2008, providing clinical treatment to persons suffering from PTSD and to persons requiring rehabilitation therapy.

 

Ms. Antoniazzi joined the Cambridge Psychology Centre in September 2008, where she continues to provide treatment to military veterans since July 2008. Her role in our clinic is to complete assessments and provide treatment to persons with emotional concerns related to motor vehicle and WSIB accidents, childhood abuse, trauma-related concerns, mood disorders, chronic pain, and rehabilitation counselling. 

 

Ms. Antoniazzi enjoys cooking, reading and watercolour painting, when not providing a safe and caring environment for others to overcome their challenges in life.

 

Ms. Nancy Braafladt Mesher, M.S., Clinical Psychotherapist

Nancy Braafladt Mesher is a Clinical Psychotherapist who earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at Vanderbilt University in 1997.  She offers therapy and assessment services to adults and children.  Nancy is a cognitive-behavioural therapist interested in the management of depression, anxiety and phobias.  She also has experience working with clients with chronic health issues, such as M.S.  She teaches clients to identify and correct unrealistic thinking, which fuel negative moods and dysfunctional behavioural patterns.


Nancy is nonjudgmental, caring and receptive to the individual and dynamic needs of her clients.  She recognizes that people may need support and guidance when trying to cope with stressors, social dynamics and personal struggles.

Nancy’s psychological services at Cambridge Psychology Centre are supervised by Registered Psychologists on staff.

In her free time, Nancy enjoys being with her family, working with dogs at the Humane Society and running.
