Motor Vehicle Accidents

There are over 125,000 motor vehicle accidents in Canada every year.  These accidents rarely result in serious injuries. However, serious physical and emotional problems can and do result from motor vehicle accidents.

Often accident survivors devote much of their early recovery efforts to their physical injuries. What people sometimes overlook is the psychological impact of a motor vehicle accident, such as frightening memories of the accident, fear of driving, feeling down or depressed, and struggling with lost physical functioning. There is also the stress of filling out unfamiliar insurance forms and navigating a potentially confusing legal process.

Our clinicians our well-trained in the assessment and treatment of psychological difficulties associated with motor vehicle accidents. We are also experienced in treating couples and families who are forced to adjust to numerous changes and losses resulting from motor vehicle accidents.

Sometimes, accident survivors have injuries that prevent them from returning to their normal work. We are trained to complete psycho-vocational assessments to assist in such cases.

Psychological services are funded by your auto insurer, subject to approval of a clinician-submitted treatment plan.
